The run will start at 9am from outside The Bonded Warehouse, Canal Street, Stourbridge, DY8 4LU (which is opposite Grandad’s Attic antique shop). Ample parking is at the very end of Canal Street in front of the metal railings. Alternatively you can park along the road by Kwik Fit, Mill Race Lane, Stourbridge, DY8 1JN (no parking restrictions on Sunday) and walk over to The Bonded Warehouse.
Please try and car share if you can.
The off road route will take in some beautiful countryside, along the canal, through forest trails (Ridge Hill Woods) and over a ridge way with some lovely views, there is a small section of road running (about 0.8 of a mile). The course will be marked out with red and white tape and directional arrows. It will be 8 miles in total and undulating in parts, there are a couple of hills, but nothing too bad. It can be muddy in one or two sections if we have had a lot of rain before the run. There are tree stumps and roots as well, so please be careful.
There will be a tail runner and plenty of planned run back points so no one will ever feel like they have been left behind, the pace will be nice and steady and I’d really like to encourage people to come and try trail running if you have not tried it before or not run as far as 8 miles, I promise you will be well looked after and hopefully really enjoy the run. Also plenty of long sections for faster runners to go ahead and then run back.
After the run we can go and have a hot drink (and breakfast if you want something to eat) at The Old Wharf Pub, – I’ll show you it at the start of the run it’s right by The Bonded Warehouse, it’s a really nice pub with open fires and they have said we would be more than welcome, which includes Vegetarian options (the chef has also offered to prepare Vegan options as well on the day if anyone wants this). Everyone is welcome so please try and come if you can, I hope to see you all there.
Best wishes, Mark Warren
