Our Training Sessions

Our regular run training sessions usually start and finish from the Halesowen Leisure Centre (HLC), Great Cornbow, Halesowen, B63 3AF. However, whilst COVID-19 precautions remain in place we will be meeting opposite the Leisure Centre outside the Life Central Church to allow us more room to gather.

Monday

6.30 – 7.15pm

Organised Swimming Session at Halesowen Leisure Centre.

Cobra members attending the coached swim session pay just £1.00 for the swim and £2.00 for the coaching session (£3.00) total.  If you are a Leisure Centre Member you may need to show your membership card at the desk and then pay just the £2.00. This is great value as we get our swim and coaching for less than the cost of an adult swim.

The above rates only apply to the club session on a Monday evening and not for general public swim times.

Tuesday

6.30 – 8.00pm

Long Run Session approximately 6-8 miles intermediate pace.
Please be ready to start opposite the Leisure Centre outside the Life Central Church 5-10 mins before the start time.

Wednesday

7.00 – 8.00pm

Medium Run Session approximately 5 miles steady pace, start/stop.  Ideal for regular steady runners or runners coming back from injury.
Beginners Run Session, there is also a second group that runs at 7pm, ideal for begginers that run around 3miles/5km.
Please be ready to start opposite the Leisure Centre outside the Life Central Church 5-10 mins before the start time.

6.30 – 8.00pm (Summer Only) – ORGANISED ON AN AD-HOC BASIS SUBJECT TO DEMAND

Cycle Session approximately 12 miles focus on short hills and sprints, summer only.
These session normally start from the road island at the end of the bypass by the Harvester pub.

Thursday

7.00 – 8.00pm

Medium Run Session approximately 4-6 miles hill reps and interval training.  In the summer months we meet on the Walton Hill car park on Walton Hill Road, Clent Hills.

From October to March please be ready to start opposite the Leisure Centre outside the Life Central Church 5-10 mins before the start time.

From April to September please be ready to start at the Walton Hill car park, Walton Hill Road, Clent Hills  5-10 mins before the start time (as the light begins to fade in the autumn we may move the start time forward to allow for light).

Saturday

11.00am – 2.00pm ORGANISED ON AN AD HOC BASIS SUBJECT TO DEMAND

Cycle Session, distance subject to demand on the day, summer only.
These session normally start from the road island at the end of the bypass by the Harvester pub.

Sunday

9.00 – 10.30am

Once a month usually on the last Sunday, the club organises an End of the Month run at a venue away from Halesowen.  This will be about 6- 8 miles and will be more social in nature and generally include a cafe stop at the end.  Open to all members.

Other than when there is an End of Month run , there will be a Medium Run Session approximately 6 – 7 miles at a relaxed pace.  This would usually start from opposite the Leisure Centre outside the Life Central Church but may on occasions start elsewhere.  Please check the clubs social media for confirmation or email the club secretary. Again these are generally suitable for all members.

In addition to the regular runs above,  the club will also arrange more specific training sessions for members who wish to improve their fitness to take part in races or events such as half marathons or marathons.  Please see social media or contact the club for details.
